Waitin' for the weekend

"Nothing matters but weekend, from a Tuesday's point of view" - Kings

6:00am  Up and at 'em

I got up early to get out on the trail before my Weight Watchers meeting.  I was on my way by 6:45.  I wanted to find a geocache that had evaded me - and scored me 2 wasp stings in the summer.  On my way the sun was coming up.;  It was a beautiful red sunrise. So much for the old saying "Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning."  The weather was perfect all day.
I came up empty on the cache.  It was a nice hike to and from the cache area.

I made it to the WW meeting by 8:05am.  I am glad I have been going, it is helping my mindset.  I still haven't started the points plan yet.  WW is helping the local food drives.  Our centre is collecting for St. Catharines/Thorold Community Care.   There has been over 6000 lbs collected so far.

I got out to the trails at Short Hills.  I decided to do the most southerly trail.  It has been a while since I've been on it.  I did some running, but mostly I walked.  There were so many leaves on the ground, I found I had to change my stride.  Since you can't see roots and rocks, I would lift my foot upward as opposed to up and forward so I wouldn't kick a root and end up doing a faceplant.

After my hike/run I went to take some pictures at Lake Gibson.  Lake Gibson is a man-made lake that was built in 1904.  Before they dug the lake there was a creek in that area.  There was also an man-made channel called the 'Klondike' that carried water to the Decew generating station.  The Klondike crossed Beaverdams Creek via an aqueduct.  Right now the water in the lake is very low and you can see the foundation for the aqueduct. My son and I bushwhacked our way to get a good picture of this.

I have 3 geocaches I place at different parts along the Klondike.  I will have to change the listing.  I had said that some people say you can see the aqueduct, now I can say that I've seen it.  It is something I've waited patiently for.

I was a great day today.  I didn't even tell y'all about going to the market.  I got some Tuscany sausage.  I will let you know what it is like. I took a trip to the Price Club and picked a bunch of stuff and $116.00 later I was on my way home.

I hope I didn't bore you with history.

I did some runs...woohoo

"You better run" - Pink Floyd

Well, things are going pretty good. I still haven't started following Weight Watchers plan yet, but I have been watching portions.  I will have to get on plan if I want to be successful.  I really have to work on planning and preparing meals in advance.  That is what helped a lot the last time was on plan.

On the running front, I was out on the trail on the weekend.  I did the 4.5k route in Short Hills.  I ran on the flats and downs, but I walked the uphills.  Tonight I went out and did a 5k loop.  I ran most of the way.  There is a big hill coming back up the escarpment.  I walked it, it took 10 minutes from bottom to top.

We'll see how the knees, hips and ankles feel in the morning.

Keep Fighting.

Midweek update

"Dreams transport desires, Drive you when you're down"  -  Rush

Things are going pretty good this week.  I've avoided temptations a few times.  Actually the temptations haven't been tempting.  There were brownies, cake, candies and more.  None of which called me.  I haven't started the Weight Watchers plan yet but I have really watched my portions and no junk food.

Weight loss has started.

I have been walking, but I really want to run.  I don't want to start until lose a fair amount of weight so I don't hurt myself.

Thats all for now.

Keep Fighting.

It is time...

"It'll be just like starting over" John Lennon

After a summer with minimal running and non-minimal eating, I am up 35lbs. and my jeans don't fit. I was off to Walmart to buy a couple pairs of 38" jeans and today a trip to Weight Watchers.

It was a hard thing to do. I kept on wanting to go back, but I was nervous, ashamed and afraid to show my face. I wish I would have gone a couple of months ago, my 36" jeans would probably fit again.

I have done a few trail run lately and I have been hiking over the summer, so I have getting some exercise.

I've signed up for the Robbie Burns Run in January. It sold out last year, so I signed up early, to make sure I got in and to help motivate me.

I have taken up geocaching. For those who are familiar with it, it is a hi tech treasure hunt. Somebody hides a box and publishes the co-ordinates on the internet. With a handheld GPS you search for the item. It can be somewhere in the woods or in a parking lot. It is great for hiking. You get to see places you wouldn't normally get to.
