I forgot to update my 20in20
The past week was OK. I gained 1 lb. but I still am netting out a loss of 2 lbs. I will work hard at keeping the 1 lb. per week loss. I will try to blog more about my challenge, I think it may help keep me going.

Maybe it will be 42 @ 43
On the eve of my 43rd birthday, I sit here a little upset that I didn't accomplish one of my goals,

that being running a 42.2 kilometer race at the age of 42.

That being said, I ran four 1/2 marathons, the Around the Bay 30K road race, 10K, 8K and 5K races. Things I couldn't even imagine doing 4 years ago. I have kept the weight off for the most part. I am up a little, but I am in control. Anyone who has a weight problem knows exactly what I mean by that. There have been a few periods that I have lost control for a week at a time.
I have plans for the upcoming year. I really, really really want to run a marathon. It is one of those things that will keep bugging me until I do it. I would love to run an Ultra on the trails. Listening to UltraDad, the late Trail and Tribulations and getting on the trails, I have found a love for them. They are tougher than the road, but they keep calling me back.
I just signed up for the 2009 Around the Bay 30K in March. I want to kick the "Killer Hill's" butt once again. I don't know what marathon I will do. If I can get proper training in over the winter, I would like to run the Sulfur Springs 50K Trail Race in May. It may be a lofty goal, but how does the saying go "Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will be amongst the stars".

My personal 20 in 20 challenge.
I attempted Nigel's 10 in 10 challenge but for many reasons I was unable to get into the groove I needed to be in to be successful. I am hoping I have found that groove. I would like to lose 20lbs. by Christmas. My 1st week I have had great success in staying true to myself. My official weigh-in will be Saturday mornings. I was down 3lbs. this week. The weekend proved a little hard but I made it through without only a few dents, not a total crash. I had a lot of food that contained too much salt. I have been drinking generous amounts of water today.
I am hoping that this blog will keep me honest.
This week-end I went to Lockport, NY to see REO Speedwagon with my wife and 2 friends. We were lucky enough to get All Access passes and go back stage. My wife has loved REO for over 20-years and finally she met the band.
I was out for a tough hot trail run Saturday. Trail running is tiring. The trail had some muddy sections. I had a lot of fun slopping through the mud. I went out Sunday night and my legs were tired.
It is tough getting out running with the Olympics on TV and live on the CBC Website.

It Has Been a While

I may not have kept up my blog, but my running seems to be going along fine.
I haven't officially began any training plan despite a fast approaching 1/2 marathon in September. My long runs have been on the trails for the most part. I haven't done long distance, but I have run hard and for a couple hours at a time. I am hoping that a 2-hour trail run, even though it may cover a lot less distance translates out to a 2-hour longer distance road run.My Asics Trail GT-2120 shoes are working great.
I ran a 5K road race last week-end. This race is a very hilly, challenging course. It is a 2-loop course through the vineyards of Beamsville. Last year I was slow enough to enable me to see the 4 leaders pass me right before the finish. This year I was faster and I was able to glance back and see the winner turn into the finishing chute. I ran a PB for that course but I didn't break the 30-minute mark. I ran a 30:08 on my watch. My kid ran in the 1K, I hope they catch the running bug, I really want them to grow up loving a healthy lifestyle.
